What is polyester? The main ingredient of the beverage bottle that we touch more in daily life is it. The chemical is called polyethylene terephthalate, which is called polyester or polyester fiber.
In 1953, DuPont Company of the United States built the first polyester fiber factory. After the 1980s, the polyester fiber was rapidly developed around the world. Now China has become the world’s largest producer of synthetic fibers. In 2014, China’s polyester fiber production reached 35.8 million tons, of which 20% was used to produce decorative fabrics and various filling materials, such as plush toys.
For more than 60 years since the founding of the People’s Republic of China, China has developed into the world’s largest toy manufacturing and exporting country. There are more than 20,000 toy companies and 4 million employees, with an annual output value of more than 100 billion. Among them, plush toys account for 75% of the world toy market, and has the reputation of “world plush toys in China”. The production areas are concentrated in coastal areas such as Guangdong, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Shanghai, Shandong, and Fujian. Among them, Yangzhou was awarded the title of “China’s plush toy gift capital” by the China National Light Industry Federation in 2006.
Among the stuffed toys, the main component of the filling material, polyester fiber is used, specifically hollow three-dimensional crimped polyester staple fiber. Not only plush toys, but we also wear clothing such as down jackets; bedding such as pillows cushion, nine-hole quilt; decorative fabrics and other industrial products are inseparable from polyester fiber. In order to achieve a smooth, fluffy, and elastic effect, the production generally has to undergo two major processes, pre-spinning and post-spinning. In the chemical fiber plant spinning machine, after the polyester chips or melt are melted, they flow through the top plate, the distribution plate, and are ejected from the spinneret to be cooled into filaments.
Of course, processing aids are indispensable in this process.
